We hear his Prussian Majesty has declar'd to Court that the
violences committed by some of the officers upon the
Territories of Hanover, was absolutely against his pleasure,
and that he will give his Majesty satisfaction by punishing
the offenders.
The spirit with which his Imperial Majesty has shown his
resentment of the slights put on him by the Pope whilst his
affairs seem'd bad in Italy will not be soon forgot by the
Papal Court, who are again in a panick on account of an
accident which happened a few days ago in their streets,
where Mr. [Draghi, or Doughi?], an officer in the Imperial
Service, being in his coach, the Town Bailiff stopt him and
ordered his coachman to make way for the [Fiscal's or
Pascal's] son, who was passing in his coach the same way:
The German Officer taking the bailiff's behaviour as an
affront, got out of his coach and killed [ ] him, which
the Governour of the City resented, sent to the officer the
next day to keep his house; but conteming the Arrest, he
went out directly, and appeared the same evening at the
Opera, where he was taken into custody by the City
Magistrates, and committed to prison. His Holiness hearing
of the affair the next day, ordered the gentleman to be set
at liberty, and to have all possible satisfaction, but he
refused to make up the affair alledging that the affront was
done the Emperor, which officer he is, and has accordingly
sent his complaint to the Imperial Court.
