Letter from our correspondents near Edinburgh, dated Feb.
11. The rebels seperated immediately after passing the
Froth. The young Pretender with the clans took to the
hills, the rest went to Perth, which they soon abandoned,
after a speech made by Strathallan, concluding with this,
that it was expedient, that every one should provide for his
own safety. The Highlanders made into Athol's country; and
the Lowlandmen, about 2500, went coast-ways. A Drum that
belonged to their guards was made prisoner at Leith, who
says that he had been discharged by Elcho, as having no more
service for him. The people of Perth rose upon them in
marching off, and took about 20 prisoners. The rebels in
dispersing sell their arms every where. . .
