Versailles, Feb. 26, O.S. After having gazed, with wonder,
on the magnificence of the Dauphin's marriage, we are now at
leisure to compute what it has cost; and those who have
reason to be best acquainted with such matters, assure us,
that it has not stood the King in last then twelve millions,
including the rich cabinet of jewels, of which his Majesty
made a present to the Dauphiness a few days ago. At the
great ball, given by the city of Paris, it is computed there
were drank 60,000 bottles of wine; and the expence of
limonade, orgeat, and other cooling liquor, has been
computed at 20,000 crowns.
