How ill the motion with the music suits,
So Orpheus fiddled, and so danc'd the brutes.
I never, till this moment, lamented the dormant taciturnity
and inability to my muse: Could the sacrificing of my
scanty portion of earthly riches, call up within me a spark
of poetic fire, and with what alacrity I would do it! then
with pleasure would I launch forth in the praise, and sing,
in the very heights of poetic imagination, the merits and
abilities of those worthies . . .
[signed] Old Testy Micus.
