London, May 21. Description of a grand review at Paris, in a
letter from thence, dated May 7. . . [describes review of
troops by French King and the emperor of Germany,
including:] The drums, trumpets, clarionets, and other
pieces of music now struck up a complimental volley to
announce the arrival of the Queen, who, preceded by several
running footmen, in admirable fancy dresses, and by military
guards in superb uniforms, soon made her appearance in the
most magnificent coach that ever rolled upon wheels,
ornamented at the top with crimson velvet, and an embroidery
in the regal style, by way of crown . . . [long procession
of court figures, then:] After they had taken a slow circle
around the plain, the procession was for ten minutes
suspended, and then the ear was saluted by a fresh concert
of harmonious sounds, to introduce the King and his train .
