Anecdote of Lewis XIII. King of France. There was a grand
masquerade ball held in Paris in the reign of the above weak
monarch, who, notwithstanding his dress, was discovered by
two young gentlemen, walking in the ball room with his arms
round the waist of one of his mistresses; the gentlemen soon
came close up to his majesty, when one of them complained of
the heat of the room, and made a motion to the other for
them to adjourn to the King's arms.--No, replies he, that
will not do, the King's arms are full; but, if you think
proper, we will retire to the King's head, for that is quite
empty.
