London, August 22. Yesterday evening his Danish majesty was
at the Theatre Royal in Drury-Lane, to see Mr. Garrick, in
the character of Ranger, in the Suspicious Husband. The
house was incredibly full, and the King of Denmark was
received with the loudest peals of joy.--His majesty very
frequently expressed his applause during the representation,
by clapping; and when the play was finished, he sent for Mr.
Garrick into his box, and paid him many just compliments, on
his admirable performance. The country dances at the
conclusion, gave so much satisfaction, that it was encored,
and the audience would not suffer the farce to go on, till
they were obliged by a repetition of it. After their desire
was indulged, the elegant little entertainment of Daphne and
Amistor was exhibited; and his majesty, at the conclusion,
retired as he came in, amidst the universal acclamations of
the people.
