I take this public method to acquaint the gentlemen and
ladies, that I have taken the house near the entrance of Dr.
Dyer's grove, with a view of entertaining those who frequent
that delightful walk. And as I have hitherto had the
pleasure of entertaining none but the genteeler sort, I
flatter myself I shall still be favoured with the
continuance of their company and custom in this retirement,
as I shall do every thing in my power to make their
entertainment and attendance as agreeable as they can wish.
I shall likewise strictly attend my business at my own house
in the town, at my usual hours of teaching and be very
punctual on Thursdays to attend my public dancing, for which
reason I must intreat the favour of those that are scholars,
and them that practice, that they fail not in meeting
exactly at two o'clock. As I have no thoughts of giving up
this business, as the envious or prejudiced have often
reported, I flatter myself I shall give satisfaction in
every branch of my undertaking, and hope to meet with due
encouragement from every well wishes of their humble
servant. [signed] Mary Cowley.
