Boston, November 21. Extract of a letter from Edinburgh.
The pleasure we felt upon hearing that Wilkes had fallen in
a duel with a Scotchman, is not be described: Without
waiting for confirmation of the welcome news, the guns at
the castle were fired, and all business suspended for the
day: In the evening a ball was given to the ladies, our
houses were illuminated to the 15th story, and the streets
resounded with long live Forbes; and, Forbes for ever. . . .
