Boston, March 25.  Extract of a letter from gentleman at
Newport, dated March 7. 
His Excellency Gen. Washington, arrived yesterday in the
forenoon. . . [15 lines]  The town ran together, to devise a
mode, in which they might evidence their joy on the
occasion: --To illuminate the town, was the result of their
meeting: -- At dark the candles were lighted.  Ringing of
bells and every demonstration of joy, marked the evening . .
