St. George de Viart, Professor of the polite Arts, Begs
leave to acquaint the public, that he will open his Academy
for Dancing in April, at the Assembly Room, where ladies and
gentlemen who have not perfected themselves in that
agreeable accomplishment, may be taught in such a manner as
to add grace and beauty to the deportment of either sex, in
the genteelest characters in life. He shall endeavour to
follow exactly, the rule of Horace concerning the education
of youth.
  Maxima debetur pueris reverentia.
Also the said Viart teaches the French language in the
easiest method, so that scholars of the least aptitude in
the course of six months may be sufficiently acquainted with
the rudiments of the language, and pronounce and write it
with delicacy and propriety; those who intend continuing, or
sending their children for either branch, he begs will honor
him with their names at Mrs. Livermore's this week, as he
shall establish himself accordingly.
Portsmouth, March 29th 1775.
