Charlestown (S. Carolina) Sept. 11.  Extract of letters from
the Camp near Senecca.
August 18, 1776.  On the 12th inst.  Col. Williamson came to
Tomawsey, where he saw signs of Indians very fresh; detached
Capt. Perkins and Anderson, with 60 men, to attack them and
reconnoitre; and Major D. went out with 20 men. . . [19
lines, skirmish with Indians] being now near sunset, they
were called off by beat of drum. . .
