Extract of a letter dated Baltimore 28th April, addressed A-
-- Lormond, Ecuyer, grand Rue St. Seurin, a Bordeaux, par La
Nancy, Capt. Briamer.
We are informed by the public newspapers, and by some
private letters, . . . that the trade of France has been
entirely ruined by English privateers. . . [1/4 column]
There is no country where there is less the appearance of
war, than this. They seem only interested in the operations
of the French and English fleets. The Americans play only
the part of spectators: And, while waiting the decision of
their fate, drinking and horse racing seem to be their
principal amusement. -- They sing like country boobies,
dance like vulgar citizens, and talk to the ladies like the
ass in the fable in conversation with his master.
