Boston. Wednesday last was celebrated here as a day of
publick rejoycing, on the happy occasion of the marriage of
his Royal Highness Frederick Prince of Wales with her
Highness Augusta Princess of Saxe-Gotha:
All the bells in town were rung from six in the morning to
twelve at noon; and from two in the afternoon until eight in
the evening. At noon by his Excellency's order, thirty
pieces of cannon were discharged at his Majesty's Castle
William, agreeable to the years of the Prince of Wales, and
also seventeen more according to the years of the Princess
of Wales: The guns on board his Majesty's ship Scarborough,
and other vessels in the harbour were also fired being many
in number, and discharg'd with more regularity than
heretofore. The Regiment of Militia in this town were under
arms and made a fine appearance, who were review'd in the
field by his Excellency our Governor and. . .
In the evening his Excellency with great complacency gave
a ball at Austin's Long Room in King Street, to a vast
number of gentlemen and ladies, as well as a genteel supper:
The town on no occasion was ever more beautifully
illuminated, nor had finer fire works, skie rockets, &c.
display'd in it.
