Hague, October 12. At Vienna and at Brussels the Te Deum
has been sung for the advantage gained the 15th ult. at the
passing of the Secchia: At Paris and at Turin the Te Deum
has been sung for the happy success of the battle of
Guastalla, which are the real gainers now, the allies, or
the Imperialists, after more blood drawn in one campagne,
than in four years of the last war put together ? It is
certain, that the Imperialists have lost a great number of
men this campagne in Lombardy; but the allies have lost a
great many more, having had more killed than the
Imperialists at Parma and Guastalla, though they took more
prisoners than their enemies. The death of the Prince of
Wittemberg is an irreparable loss, that Prince promising the
Empire a second Prince Eugene.
