London. . . Octob. 31. Fifty six Saltzburghers, viz
Thirty-five men, fourteen women, and seven children, being
arriv'd from Rotterdam in their passage to Georgia, and
desirous to return Almighty God thanks for their deliverance
from the popish persecution, to the free exercise of the
Gospel; the Right Honourable the Lord Mayor of this city
being acquainted with their intention of walking in
procession from the waterside to the German Church in
Trinity-Lane, his Lordship ordered boats to bring them
ashore, and the city marshal to attend them, with a proper
number of officers to conduct them. . .
After dinner they sung a hymn, and repaired again to the
church, preceded by the gentlemen aforesaid, where they
heard a grand and excellent discourse from the Reverend Mr.
Butjentier, on of his Majesty's German chaplains; after
which they return a ship board. . .
