Versailles, March 22 N.S.  The 18th instant being Palm
Sunday, the King accompanied by the Duke of Maine and the
Prince de Dombis, went to the chappel in the castle, where
his Majesty was present at the blessing of the palms, which
was perform'd by the Abbot Bresteau, Chaplain to the Chappel
of Musick, who presented one of them to the King:  His
Majesty assisted at the procession; and after the Gospel, he
adored the cross.  After which the King heard high mass
celebrated by the same chaplain, and sung to musick.  The
Queen heard the same mass in her gallery. . . [2d para:]
  In the afternoon, the Queen heard a sermon upon the supper
preach'd by the Abbot de Ciceri, preacher in ordinary to her
Majesty; after which the Bishop of Grasse having pronounced
the absolution, her Majesty washed the feet of 12 poor young
women, and served them at table.  The Marquis de Villacerf,
first maitre d'hotel to the Queen, walk'd before the
service, the dishes being carried by Mademoiselle de
Clermont, Mademoiselle de la Roche-sur-Yon, by her Majesty's
ladies of honour, and other court ladies.  After this
ceremony, the King and Queen heard the office De Tenebris
sung to musick in the chappel.
