Hague, September 20. 1729. We have received from
Constantinople the following account of the solemn entry
which the present Cham of Tartary made into that city the
26th of April last. . .
[bottom of page] and while every thing was getting ready for
the march, the prime vizir gave the cham the diversion of
the Geridde, and several other plays in use among the Turks.
When it was time to be moving, the cham mounted on of the
grand seignior's horses presented to him by the prime vizir,
and the cavalcade began in the following order. . .
The prime vizir's household, which is very numerous,
followed that first minister, and preceded his kiayo, or
lieutenant, who walk'd alone. After him came the grand
seignior's and vizir's drums, kettle-drums, hautbois, fifes,
&c. drumming and playing all the way.
