Paris, Dec. 3. The Duke of Gloucester has been here some
days. It is believed that he will not go to court, having
walked on Monday last, without any of his retinue,
accompanied by a French gentleman, to request, on his part
of the French comedians, the representation of two
particular pieces, for the next day. He saw with what
eagerness his desires were complied with, notwithstanding
the measures taken for playing two other pieces which had
been announced to the public, and fixed up. Some of the
guards conduct him to all the public spectacles, and make
room for him without naming him.
