Another Sketch of the Times.
Empty Churches. Crammed playhouses. Parsons without
religion. Women without chastity. The Girls all Boldness.
The Men all effeminacy. Marriage despised. Concubinage
gloried in. Cuckolds without number. Prostitutes in every
corner of the town. Patriots without common honesty.
Officers without courage. And a set of lawyers so destitute
of principal, that they would plead for the devil. A court
full of folly. The drawing-room of treachery. Fidlers
caressed. Men of sense neglected. And the best
encouragement given to butterfly catchers. An opposition
without meaning. A ministry without abilities. And a ****
without a head.
