Salem, March 20. Last Thursday, about 5 o'clock in the
morning, a fire broke out in the Printing Office of Mr. John
Mycall, of Newbury-Port; by which, that and about 11 other
buildings were consumed; among them the dwelling houses of
Captain Nicholas Tracy and Captain Rogers.
Mr. Mycall's loss by the above accident is very great.
Besides two printing presses and nearly 6000 lb of types, he
lost 12 or 14 thousand psalm books, spelling books, psalters
and other books, bound and in sheets, and a number of other
articles of value.
