Twenty dollars reward. Anne Arundal County. Maryland, May 1
1776. Ran away from the subscriber, living on Elk-Ridge, a
servant man, named John Marshall, a lusty well looking
fellow, about 21 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, fair
complexion, a little pitted with the small-pox, has a slow
mild speech, born in England, and plays well on the violin
and fife.
. . . [3 lines on clothes worn]
I have reason to believe that he went over in an oyster boat
to Oxford, on the Eastern shore, and in all probability will
offer himself as a fifer to some of the Provincials or
Militia in that neighbourhood.
. . . [4 lines on reward terms]
[signed] John Dorsey
