Charles Town, Maryland, Feb. 12, 1753. Ran away, the 11th
instant, from the subscriber, an apprentice boy, about 18
years of age, named John Barneby, a shoemaker by trade,
country born, well set, about 5 feet high, speaks slow, and
of a sallow complexion. Had on when he went away, a light
colour'd cloth coat, a green jacket, a pair of new shoes, a
pair of grey stockings, a pair of buckskin breeches, a white
shirt, and a ruffled cap. There ran away in company with
the said John Barneby, one John M'Donald, an apprentice to
Thomas Pryer, of said town; he is an Irish boy, was bred up
to tumbling and shewing the slight of hand, and took his
tumbling dress away with him; he is well acquainted in many
parts of the country, is a sly artful boy, and full of antic
and impudent airs, of a smooth and wan complexion.
Whoever takes up the said Barneby, and secures him, so
that his master may have him again, shall have thirty
shillings reward, besides reasonable charges. And whoever
secures the said M'Donald may depend on being properly
