Citation | IL.782.001 7 Jan 1782:21 (4/196) London. . . Extract of a letter from Lincoln, August 14. Yesterday morning the 62d regiment of foot quartered here received their new colours, and fired three vollies, in honour of the Prince of Wale's birthday; and at night the officers gave an elegant ball to the ladies and gentlemen of the town. The 62d was one of the regiments that suffered at the convention of Saratoga. Their colours were burnt by the Americans, fearing they might be retaken. (Lye!) |
