On Thursday evening last a ball and entertainment was given
by his Excellency the Governor to the officers of the army
and navy, and principal ladies and gentlemen of this city,
which for its singularity, the taste with which it was
planned, and the surprizing order and decency with which
every part was carried into execution, considering the large
assemblage, far surpassed any thing ever seen in this state,
and reflects no inconsiderable honor upon the managers.
