To the public.  [Letter accuses someone of damaging his
reputation by stating that he has left town permanently,
without paying his debt.  He denies such intentions.]  . . .
If, after three days from this date, I hear any of them
opening their trumpet mouths to my prejudice, they may
expect to receive that discipline to which their infamous
calumny entitles them.
