Extract of a letter, dated Camp, Charlestown, May 8th, 1780.
. . [narrative of siege of Charleston]
13th. After losing a few more men. and about 20 horses, the
[American] garrison surrendered on the terms offered the
8th, viz. to march out with drums, and pile their arms in
front of our troops, without their gate. . .
