Georgia. George Hardwick personally appeared before me,
Charles Francis Chevalier, one of the justices of the peace
for Chatham county, and being sworn, solemnly declareth and
asserts, that he never said to any person or persons
whomsoever that Colonel John Cooper had stolen a certain
sorel horse which was the property of the deponent, stolen
some time ago from the deponent, and which it had been
reported that the deponent should have said that the said
Colonel John Cooper had taken; the deponent further declares
that he never said such a thing, but had reason to believe
his waiting man (a Negro) was concerned in the stealing the
said horse. Geo. Hardwick.
Sworn before me, this 11th day of October, 1783, Chs. Fs.
Chevalier, J. P.
