A bon mot of a certain noble Earl now at Bath has been much
mentioned in that city, his Lordship being told by a
Gentleman that Mr. Derrick had declared he made 800 L a
year, by being master of the Ceremonies, replied with a
laugh, Derrick is a blockhead, for not keeping that matter a
secret; for if the Ministry should hear it, they may make
his office a patent place, and give it to some popular
member of Parliament.
