The Grand Stormont Breakfast.
Lord Viscount Stormont, in compliment to the illustrious
French visitors, gave on Saturday last, one of the most
elegant entertainments ever seen in this country. The spot
selected by his Lordship on this occasion, was his seat,
near Wandsworth. --About 600 cards of admission were
distributed. --Sixteen superb marquees were pitched in his
Lordship's park, in which, as at the house, were tea,
coffee, chocolate, ices, wines, grapes, strawberries, &c. in
the greatest abundance, and served with the utmost taste and
regularity. About eleven o'clock the company began to
assemble, although his Royal Highness the Prince of Wales
did not arrive till half after two o'clock. His arrival was
announced by the ringing of a bell, and was received by the
company with every mark of respect. The Duke de Chartres
came in the carriage with the Prince of Wales, and the rest
of the foreign nobility arrived with the ambassadors.
At three the dances commenced on the verdant mead. His
Highness danced with a foreign lady, and at four the company
departed. Two bands of music belonging to the guards
attended. The one performing in the park, and the other in
the house.
Lord Stormont, altho' indisposed, was so far recovered,
as to be able to see the company, which afforded the most
heartfelt satisfaction to every visitor.
