Springfield, May 27. On Tuesday last being the day on which
the court of General Sessions of the peace, and the Court of
Common Pleas opened in this town, a banditti, collected from
the obscure corners of the country, composed of men of the
most infamous character, to the amount of about sixty in
number, met in this town to prevent the sitting of the
court. . . [9 lines] when the bell rang for the court,
they, in hostile parade, armed with white bludgeons, cut for
that purpose, marched before the door of the court house. .
