Extract from a work lately published at Philadelphia, under
the title "New Travels:" being a series of letters written
by the Abbe Robin, a Chaplain in the Count de Rochambeau's
army. . . [2 columns praising and describing George
Washington.  Near top of 2nd column:]
The Americans, that cool and sedate people, who, in the
midst of their most trying difficulties, have attended only
to the directions and impulses of plain method and common
reason, are roused, animated, and inflamed at the very
mention of his name; and the first songs that sentiment or
gratitude has dictated, have been to celebrate General
Washington. . .
