Savannah, (in Georgia,) July 26. On Monday evening last the
town was amused with a new exhibition. One Hopkins who has
frequently been heard to revile the advocates of American
liberty . . . [was tarred and feathered, the report in
theatrical metaphor, 15 lines] and the hero of the drama was
still rendered more conspicuous by a large number of lights
which were kept about him for that purpose. The scene
lasted about five hours.
