When the three Generals (lately arrived) were going into
Boston, they met a packet coming out, when, we hear, Gen.
Burgoine asked the skipper of the packet what news there
was; and being told that Boston was surrounded by 10,000
country people, asked how many regulars there was in Boston;
and being answered, about 5,000, cried out, with
astonishment! What! Ten thousand peasants keep five
thousand King's troops shut up! Well, let us in, and we'll
soon find elbow room!
