London, November 25. On Saturday the committee of the common
council waited on Lord Rodney, at his house in Hertford-
Street, with the unanimous vote of thanks of the Lord Mayor
. . . [long essay on Rodney's achievements and London's
gratefulness] 
     The committee were then regaled with chocolate, cakes,
&c. and some of the choicest wines, who, after spending
about an hour with his Lordship and his friends in social
conversation, returned in procession to the London Tavern,
preceeded by kettle-drums, trumpets, French-horns,
clarinets, bassoons, hautboys, &c. &c. &c. where an elegant
dinner was provided; accompanied by Lord Rodney . . . [and

     After dinner the following toasts were drank,
accompanied with sound of trumpet, viz,
The King and Constitution, with three.
Musick played God save the King.
The Queen.
The Prince of Wales, and the rest of the Royal Family.
Lord Rodney with three times three.
Music played Britons strike home.

The Royal Lieutenant, with three times three.
Music played, when Britains first at Heaven's command.

     Many loyal songs were sung, and the day and evening
concluded with the greatest felicity.
     The citizens of London expressed their gratitude by a
general illumination, and the whole town appeared one
continued scene of harmony and satisfaction.  The bells of
most of the churches rung upon the occasion, and bonfires,
together with many beautiful fireworks, were to be seen in
several parts of the city.
