New-Haven, May 1.  Thursday last was observed as a day of
festity and rejoicing, in this town, on receipt of
indubitable testimony of the most important, grand, and ever
memorable event---The total cessation of hostilities between
Great-Britain and these United States, and the full
acknowledgement of their sovereignty and independence. . .
