University of Yale, Sept. 11th, 1782.  This day was
celebrated the public commencement of this university.  At
half past ten A.M. the academic procession moved from the
college to the brick meeting-house.  The exercises of the
day were as follows.  The Rev. President began with a
prayer.  An Anthem. . . [15 more lines describing ceremony] 
The exercises of the afternoon began with an anthem. [12
lines describing exercises, 43 lines listing degree
candidates] A valedictory oration was pronounced by Mr.
Tutor Goodrich. An Anthem.  A prayer by the Rev. President
closed the exercises of the day.
