Boston, October 26. . . [15 lines] Yesterday being the
general election, agreeable to the new constitution of this
state; the day was ushered in by the ringing of bells,
firing of cannon, &c. and about three o'clock in the
afternoon, his excellency John Hancock, Esq; was declared
governor of this commonwealth, from the balcony of the
state-house.
