Extract of a letter from Langport, in Somersetshire, Dec.
28.  We have had great rejoicings in our neighbourhood on
account of the marriage of Lady Hester Pitt, eldest daughter
of the Earl of Chatham, to Lord Viscount Mahone, son of
Early Stanhope. The bells at Curry rival (the parish in
which Purton Pynsent stands) were rung for five days and
nights, and in all the villages round for two days. . . [3
