A Picture of Europe, for 1771. . . [Caricatures of European
nations showing their political situation. Russia, Denmark,
Sweden, Prussia, Poland, Hungary, Germany, Holland France,
Spain, Portugal] Rome.---The Pope repeating homilies--
nineteen Cardinals singing penitential hymns. His Holiness's
hat nodding on one side of his head. At a distance a
Spaniard & a Frenchman dancing, after breaking their chains. 
Naples.---The King stretched in an arbour listening to the
music of a full concerto--has eunuchs for attendants. . .
[Sardinia next] Great-Britain.--On her knees. The cabinet-
council playing at back-gammon. A secretary of state singing
the red rose at a candle. Neptune supporting the throne with
his head off.   Ireland--Barefooted. Singing the Irish Howl.
