From the London Gazetteer, &c.Feb. 17. A vile reproach cast
upon the Bostonians, censured. . . [77 lines] That
description given of the people of Boston, New England,
which says, "That the men are all hypocrites, & the women w-
-s; that there is not an officer in the sea or land service,
nor a common man, down to a drummer, that cannot have his
bedfellow for the winter. . . " What r---e L----, or
Letcher, drew up this character of the Bostonians, I cannot
tell; but should guess it must have been the production of
some hand infamously guilty of such debaucheries. . . [27
more lines] It is a certain sign of an ill heart, to be
inclined to defamation.--Spectator 427. And Solomon says, He
that uttereth a slander, is a fool. Censor.
