Extract of a letter, dated Camp, Charlestown [SC], May 8th,
1780. . . . 13th.  After losing a few more men and about 20
horses, the garrison surrendered on the terms offered the
8th, viz. to march out with drums, and pile their arms in
front of our troops, without their gate. . .
