London, April 17.  Yesterday morning about nine o'clock the
Rev. Mr. Hackman was brought from Newgate to the bar of the
session-house in the Old Bailey, where he was arraigned for
firing a pistol at Miss Ray, as she was coming out of
Covent-Garden Play-house on Wednesday the 7th instant, which
killed her on the spot. . . [narrative of trial. About half-
way down first column, a description of the victim:] 
   There was something in the person, manner and figure of
the unhappy young lady, which particularly induced Lord
Sandwich to bestow the most liberal education upon her that
this country could supply.  There was scarce any polite art
in which she was not an adept, nor any part of female
literature in which she was not conversant.  All the world
are acquainted with the unrival'd sweetness of her vocal
powers; . . .
