New-London, October 6.  Last Wednesday afternoon was
received in town the melancholly advice of the death of the
Hon. William Pitkin, Esq; Governor of this Colony, who died
at his seat in Hartford last Lord's-day evening, after a
short illness.-- Upon this occasion yesterday in the evening
the bells were tolled and minute guns discharged from the
battery in this town.
