Boston, March 23. [Celebrations on the anniversary of
repeal of the Stamp Act are described]
When Faneuil Hall was beautifully illuminated, and the
several houses where the companies were collected blazed
with a profusion of candles. But the Tree of Liberty
chiefly attracted the notice of the town being richly shaded
with the splendour issuing from 108 lanthorns, disposed in
beautiful order.-- Nothing could possibly exceed the
grandeur of its appearance; and throughout the town, musick
and mirth, gratulation and joy betrayed the exalted
satisfaction which took place in every breast on this thrice
happy occasion.
