In this posture the effigy continued about an hour;  it was
then taken down, and the inhabitants and others increasing,
it was placed on a pole, and in that manner carried through
the main street, attended by people of all professions, and
denominations, and accompanied with various kinds of musick,
guns, drums, &c. and incessant acclamations of the
multitude, . . .
