Philadelphia, Nov. 19.  On Tuesday last was held the public
commencement in the college of this city, before a numerous
and splendid assembly of the inhabitants. . . [followed by
17 lines listing degree recipients and describing the
ceremony] and an ode set to music, was sung by Master
Bankson with great sweetness and propriety, accompany by the
organ, &c. under the conduct of a worthy son of the college,
who has often shewn his regard to the place of his
education, by honouring it on publick occasions, with his
ready service.  The band belonging to the 18th, or royal
regiment of Ireland, was kindly permitted, by the colonel,
to perform in the instrumental part. . . [25 more lines
