Charlestown (South-Carolina) August 23.  Last Tuesday night
arrived at the lieutenant-governor's seat on Ashley River
Charles M. Lamore (sometimes called M Namar) with dispatches
from Capt. Paul Demore, Commandant at Fort Loudon, dated the
8th instant, wherein he acquaints his honour, "That they had
agreed to the Capitulation that was inclosed, with the great
warrior (Ocxannahstotah) and other head men of the Creek
nation. . . [30 lines describing plans for capitulation
followed by 5 lines of introduction, "Articles of
Capitulation."]  Article I.  That the garrison of Fort
Loudon march out with their arms and drums; each soldier
having as much powder and ball as their officers shall think
necessary for the march, and what baggage he may chuse to
carry. . . [15 lines of articles, 22 lines justifying the
capitulation and 26 lines of news describing settler's
warning to abandon fort "as speedily and secretly as
possible" and suspected murder of Capt. Demore by Indians]
