London, Aug. 17.  The Duke of Marlborough paid a debt for
the city of Oxford, which had lain heavy upon the
inhabitants for more than half a century, amounting in whole
to 5913l. 7s. 2d.  On this occasion the bells were set a
ringing, and the freemen were entertained by the liberality
of His Grace at more than 50 houses.
