On Tower-hill the finest fireworks were played off ever
exhibited upon the like occasion; great part of the hill was
railed in to keep off the crowd.
Yesterday the right honorable the Earl of
Northumberland gave a grand entertainment to a great number
of the nobility and foreign ministers, &c. at Northumberland
house in the Strand. At night there was a ball, and very
curious fireworks were played off in the gardens, which were
illuminated with 1500 lamps, and in the center was placed a
fine piece of painting.
